I'm Icelandic of heritage. I have spent nine years of my life in Denmark and reside now in Finland. I'm an au pair, taking a long needed break from studying (15 years of school drain you) before I enrol unto University. That being said, I've been rejected from many places and I've still got 3 entrance exams to go before I know if I've got in at my last resort.
I'm a linguist at heart and love learning new languages. I'm hard of hearing, but that has never been a big issue in my language learning, and in many cases it has actually been a support. I'm currently trying to learn Finnish which is a bigger challenge than first anticipated, but it is also the more worth it.
My secret dream is to start up and run a bar. I've got the main concept mapped down (it's not gonna be your average bar) and now it just needs support and financing. However, I will take my education first, hopefully enrolling in Nordic Languages or Nordic Literature - third choice is Archaeology...reflecting a childhood dream of mine; to become a 'bone digger'. ;D
I'm often seen with a camera in my hand and if not, a pen and notebook. I'm creative and always have ideas for stories or poems or photoshoots and visual projects. I'm not a very skilled drawer or painter, although I enjoy that as well when I have the equipment for it. Most of all I enjoy live music and concert photography - often contradictory things as sometimes I just want to forget the camera and truly enjoy myself at the gig, and other times I want to capture just that moment, or the next...
I don't watch TV and I'm more of an internet person, if you can put it that way. The only TV show I've truly been interested in is House. :) If I'm not on the internet, updating myself about my friends' lives and doings, art movements or band tours, I'm most likely to be found out walking with our dogs or in a comfortable chair with the newest Newsweek or fashion magazine.
I suppose the key to me is that I'm not always what I seem to be. I go to punk gigs dressed like something out of a fashion magazine, and I show up in school wearing a corset. I am (pretty much) up to date about what happens on the political scene in the world, yet I don't know if my sister is still with her boyfriend or has got a new one...must ask.
I'm not easily categorised, which makes it all the more fun - but most importantly, I'm a friendly person and love to get to meet new people. Yet I'm shy. XD

I was going to put something smart here, but all I can think of right now are some silly House quotes. So have some House.
